Lexus adopts jet-black stainless steel material, Osaka’s local factory opens new plant

ABEL, a metal processing company in Yao City, Osaka Prefecture, will start operating a new plant in 2021 to produce jet black stainless steel material.

The company’s stainless steel coloring technology combines the intensity of color and durability that was difficult to achieve with conventional methods, and it is being used for the window frame exterior of Toyota’s luxury car “”Lexus””.

There is increasing interest in the unique technology developed by local factories in Osaka, a city known for its thriving metal processing industry, leading to an increase in production capacity.
